1. regulated profession - professional activity or group of professional activities in which access, performance or one of the ways of performing on the basis of legal or other legal acts is directly or indirectly conditioned by possession of certain professional qualifications and professional activity or group of professional activities engaged in by members of professional organizations with a professional title;
2. professional title - a title which confirms to the holder of a professional qualification the right to perform a certain regulated profession, and may be different from the academic or professional title or degree acquired by possessing an educational qualification;
3. professional and academic title and academic degree - the title and degree acquired by possessing an educational qualification in higher education;
4. professional qualification - a qualification supported by proof of formal training, a certificate of expertise and/or professional experience;
5. proof of formal qualifications - diplomas, certificates and other evidence issued by the competent authority confirming the successfully completed professional training;
6. educational qualification - a qualification acquired after the completion of formal education, which is proven by a diploma, certificate or other public document issued by the competent educational institution;
7. holder of a professional qualification - a person who meets all the necessary conditions for practicing a certain regulated profession in a member state; in the process of recognition of a foreign professional qualification is considered a candidate;
8. professional experience - actual and legal performance of the profession in full or part-time work, in accordance with the relevant regulations for each profession;
9. adaptation period - the performance of a regulated profession in the host member state under the supervision of a qualified professional, which may be accompanied by requirements for further education, professional training and retraining and shall be subject to evaluation; a qualified expert is considered to be a person with appropriate competencies, professional knowledge and experience;
10. competence check - check of the application of professional knowledge and skills of the candidate, with the corresponding independence and responsibility, which is carried out by the competent authorities in order to assess the competence of the candidate to perform a regulated profession;
11. competencies - knowledge and skills and associated independence and responsibility
12. competent body - competent professional organizations, central state administration bodies within the scope of which regulated professions are determined or other competent bodies or organizations authorized by special regulations to conduct the procedure and determine the conditions for recognition of foreign professional qualifications;
13. common competence framework - a common set of competencies necessary for performing a certain profession; does not replace national training programs, unless otherwise is provided by other legal regulations;
14. joint examination - means a standardized examination of the competence of the holder of certain professional qualifications, which is available in the Member states that have accepted the common competence framework; Successful completion of an examination in one member state enables a holder of professional qualifications to pursue a profession in any other member state which has adopted a common competence framework under the same conditions as holders of professional qualifications who obtained their qualifications in that member state;
15. certificate for the undisturbed provision of services in the internal market of the European Union - a certificate issued to legal and natural persons for the purpose of undisturbed pursuit of professions and services in other Member states, employment and economic activity, that is self-employment, employment, temporary and occasional provision services;
16. competent body for issuing EU certificates - a body or professional organization or institution that is authorized by special regulations to issue certificates, that is to keep an appropriate register and issue certificates;
17. provision of services on a temporary and occasional basis - provision of services not preceded by a procedure for the recognition of a foreign professional qualification with condition of establishment in another member state, assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account its duration, frequency, regularity and continuity;
18. internship - a period of professional practice performed under the supervision of a mentor if it is a condition for access to a regulated profession, and which can be carried out either during education until the acquisition of qualifications or after completion of education;
19. lifelong learning - all forms of lifelong learning aimed at acquiring and improving competencies for personal, social and professional needs, including professional ethics;
20. European Higher Education Credit Transfer and Transfer System or ECTS credits - a higher education scoring system used in the European Higher Education Area;
21. European Professional Card - an electronic certificate within the IMI system proving that the holder of the professional qualification has met all the necessary conditions for the provision of services in the host country on a temporary and occasional basis or the recognition of professional qualifications for establishment in the host country;
22. EPC card holder - holder of the professional qualification to which the EPC card was issued;
23. Competent body for EPC card - competent professional organization or other competent body or organization, that is central state administration body within whose scope the professions for which the EPC card was introduced are regulated, and which is authorized by special implementing regulations to prepare and process IMI files and issue EPC cards.
