The Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education has published new Recommendations.

Recommendations on the Recognition of Foreign Higher Education Qualifications for the Purpose of Further Education were published in the „Official Gazette of Bosnia and Herzegovina“, No: 01/19, on 11 January 2019. The Recommendations are the result of the Centre's endeavor to facilitate the recognition of foreign higher education qualifications in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to bring closer the practices of recognition of the European Area of Recognition (EAR) to the competent recognition authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The First Negotiation Meeting on the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications of Doctors of Medicine, Dentists, Architects and Civil Engineers was held in the organization of the Regional Cooperation Council of the countries of South East Europe (RCC). The meeting was organized in Montenegro, Podgorica, on 20 and 21 December 2018. The meeting was attended by representatives of six economies: Montenegro, Albania, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo (name defined by UN resolution 1244 from 1999). Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by representatives from the Ministry of Civil Affairs of BiH, a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH and a representative from the Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education.

In the organization of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) in Tirana, Albania, on November 13 and 14, 2018, training for negotiating teams was held that will conduct negotiations on the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications of Doctors of Medicine, Dentists, Architects and Civil Engineers between 6 economies of the Western Balkans. Training was the first step in the negotiation process, aimed at preparing negotiation teams for the process itself.

In Pаris, in the UNESCO Heаdquаrters, from 5 to 7 December 2018, the First Intergovernmentаl Meeting on the Globаl Convention on the Recognition of Higher Educаtion Quаlificаtions wаs held. Representаtives from 137 countries with а right to vote, аs well аs 27 institutions аs observers, аttended the meeting. In Mаrch 2016, following а Generаl Conference decision (38/Resolution 12), UNESCO estаblished а Drаfting Committee, in consultаtion with its Member Stаtes, to elаborаte а Preliminаry Drаft for а Globаl Convention on the Recognition of Higher Educаtion Quаlificаtions. Tаking into аccount Member Stаtes' feedbаck аfter аn initiаl round of consultаtions in Mаy-June 2017, the Drаfting Committee finаlized the Preliminаry Drаft in June 2017. In November 2017, the Generаl Conference аpproved the continuаtion of the elаborаtion process, including further consultаtions with Member Stаtes аnd relevаnt stаkeholders, аnd intergovernmentаl meetings of experts, inviting аll UNESCO Member Stаtes.

The last workshop within the Project "Strengthening of Internationalisation in BiH Higher Education" (STINT project) was held in Ghent from 27 to 29 November 2018. The host of the meeting was the KU Leuven. The topics of this workshop were criteria for assessing of internationalization of public universities in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Every university had an opportunity to select two criteria of internationalization and present the self-evlauation report conducted based on these two criteria in accordance with the Guide for Assesing the Quality in Internationalization developed within the STINT Project.

To mark the official establishment of the ERI SEE (Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe) Secretariat, the international Launching and Thematic conference –  Vision of Regional Cooperation for Quality Education and Training took place on 26 October 2018 in in Belgrade, gathering the highest decision-making ministry representatives from the region, policy implementers, education and training experts, as well as international partners (European Training Foundation, Regional Cooperation Council, GIZ…), who had the opportunity to exchange their views on improving quality of education and training and continue the work already going on at regional level.
