Within the Working Group on Western Balkans Agreement on Recognition of Academic Qualifications, in Podgorica, Montenegro, on 11-12 May 2021 the meeting of the Lead Negotiators was held. Representatives from six economies, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo (the name defined with the UN Resolution 1244 from 1999) participated at the meeting.

During the meeting, all of the Articles of the draft zero Agreement were discussed, agreed and provisionally closed.

One of the main proposals in the draft zero Agreement is a Joint Commission on Recognition of Academic Qualifications which should be established based on this Agreement tasked with organising, coordinating and monitoring activities related to the implementation of this Agreement.

The facilitation of coordination between ENIC/NARIC centres was also agreed upon and proposed as well as the methodology of checking the authenticity of qualifications between economies.

The second direct meeting of the Lead Negotiators will be held on 1-2 June 2021 in Podgorica, Montenegro, where the work on the Preamble will commence to finalize the draft zero Agreement.
