Organized by the Education Reform Initiative of South Eastern Europe (ERI SEE), in cooperation with the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Croatia, and the Agency for Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Croatia (AZVO), and supported by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), Workshop on the Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications and Quality Assurance in Higher Education was held in Zagreb, Croatia, on 25-26 October 2022.
The workshop resulted from of the interests expressed within the framework of the RCC, ERI SEE. and Joint Working Group on the Recognition of Academic Qualifications (WG RAQ), which meets continuously to facilitate the recognition of higher education qualifications in the Western Balkan region. During the first day of the meeting, representatives of the ENIC/NARIC centre of Western Balkan, and the NARIC centre of Croatia and Slovenia discussed the latest developments regarding implementation of the Article 7 of the Lisbon Recognition convention related to recognition of refugees' qualifications with insufficient documentation or without documentation.
The representative of the Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education presented a current situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and achieved results since 2014, expressing their readiness to recognize such qualifications. In the afternoon session, the best practice in the recognition procedure was discussed and exchanged.
The second day was dedicated to quality assurance in the Western Balkan region, where representatives of ENIC/NARIC centres and QA agencies discussed together discussing recognition and accreditation issues.
