The Conference "Higher Education - Trends and Innovations", organized by the Center for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (CIP) and the Project "Education for Employment", was held in Mostar, on October 11 and 12, 2022.
Representatives of ENIC/NARIC offices of the Republic of Serbia and the Republic of Slovenia, the competent educational authorities, higher education institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Agency for Development of Higher Education and Quality Assurance, Agency for Higher Education of the Republic of Srpska, ERASMUS + office in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and representatives of students attended the Conference.
The goal of the Conference was that the participants being informed with the latest trends and innovations in the field of higher education, especially emphasizing recognition of previous learning regarding to the recognition of qualifications acquired through the specific types of learning. The current situation regarding the labor market was in the focus as well, i.e. taking into concern the recognition issue of higher education qualifications at the labor market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, acquired according to the Bologna principles of higher education.
In addition to the professional lectures regarding the mentioned topics, three panel discussions were held in the two days of the Conference, in the following order:
At the first "Higher Education - Trends and Innovations" panel discussion, the countries' participants were presented the ways of both quality assurance of higher education and foreign qualification recognition as well as the readiness to accept trends and innovations in the field of higher education emphasizing the recognition of informal education and informal learning were presented.
At The Second Panel Discussion entitled "How does the labor market in Bosnia and Herzegovina recognize higher education qualifications acquired according to the Bologna principles of higher education?”, it was discussed about the recognition issue of higher education qualifications at the labor market of Bosnia and Herzegovina, acquired according to the Bologna principles of higher education. In addition to this it was also discussed whether the learning outcomes of Bologna system of education were comparable to pre-Bologna education.
In addition to the above mentioned topics, at The Third Central Panel Discussion "Higher Education - Trends and Innovations", it was also discussed upon the following:
• recognition of previous learning (study period, non-formal education and informal learning);
• recognition of micro certificates;
• recognition of the persons with insufficient documentation or no documentation;
• use of the qualification framework in recognition procedures;
• higher education qualifications and the labor market;
• equating pre-Bologna qualifications to the qualifications acquired according to the Bologna principles of higher education.
After the Conference had been taken place, it was made a general conclusion that the lectures, presentations, active discussions, exchange of experiences, and the presentation of the latest trends in education resulted in the acknowledgement of the importance of CIP, and strengthened cooperation with all participants in higher education in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
