As part of their study visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of the Swedish Council for Higher Education, which also comprises the Swedish NARIC Centre (Department for Qualifications Recognition), on 7th October 2013 visited the Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

mostar visit 2The meeting was an opportunity to discuss higher education systems, and to exchange positive experience in the process of recognition of foreign higher education qualifications in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Sweden. The discussion also covered legislation, qualification frameworks, access to higher education, quality assurance of higher education institutions and study programmes, relationship between the qualifications acquired according to the pre-Bologna and Bologna principles of education, criteria for recognition of foreign higher education qualifications, fraudulent qualifications and how to detect them. Positive practices in the recognition procedures were also exchanged.

 

A conclusion reached at the end of the meeting was that such meetings were extremely useful, contributing to mutual cooperation and better understanding of higher education systems and the position of qualifications within the system, as well as the recognition procedures.

 

Further steps in establishing excellent relations between the Centres were also agreed.
