Kick-off meeting of the JoinEU - SEE>PENTA Project was held in Tirana, Albania between 7th and 10th October 2013. The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education of Bosnia and Herzegovina, representatives of partner universities from European countries and the Western Balkans that are part of the Erasmus Mundus programme, and other Project associates.

Albanija 1Partner universities that participated at the two-day meeting were the University of Graz (Austria) - the JoinEU -  SEE>PENTA project coordination team, the University of Tirana (Albania) - project co-coordinator, the University of Aarhus (Denmark), the University of Antwerp (Belgium), the University of Banja Luka (BiH), the University of Belgrade (Serbia), the University of Bologna (Italy), the Cardiff Metropolitan University (UK), the Freie Universitat Berlin (Germany), the University of Granada (Spain), the Masaryk University (Czech Republic), the University of Montenegro (Montenegro), the University of Novi Sad (Serbia), the University of Priština (Kosovo), the University of Sarajevo (BiH),  the Saints Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje (Macedonia), the University of Tetovo (Macedonia), and the University of Tilburg (Germany).

Project associates that attended the two-day meeting were the University of Tuzla (BiH), the University of Zadar (Croatia), Institutio per l’Europa Centro - Orientale e Balcanica (Italy), Ministry of Education and Science of Albania (Albania), Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo (Kosovo), Open Society Fund Albania (Albania), Regional Secretariat for Science and Technological Development of Serbia (Serbia), and the Centre for Information and Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education (BiH).

Topics discussed during the two-day meeting were management of the JoinEU - SEE>PENTA Project, applying for participation in student exchange and selection process, Project promotion, Project quality assurance, financial organisation of the Project, and an overview of the documents required for application to the Project.

The first part of the Project is based on promotional campaigns of partnership universities that participate in the Project with the aim of promoting and raising awareness on the advantages and experience brought by student exchange. The first promotional meeting will be held between 18th and 22nd November 2013 and will be attended by the representatives of universities from Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, and Montenegro, while the second such meeting will be organised between 2nd and 6th December 2013 in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

The Project time frame was agreed, and the Project should be finalised by mid-2017.

The next meeting that will be attended by partner universities and Project associates was proposed to take place in May 2014 in Graz, Austria.
