After the practical workshop in Gent in March, the second practical workshop within the Project "Strengthening of Internationalisation in B&H Higher Education" (STINT project) was held from 2 to 6 April 2017 in Portugal. This time, the host was the Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

STINT Porto Practical Workshop Politechnic Institute of PortoThis Workshop was part of the Project Work Package 3., Activity 3.3 Practical Workshop at EU partner. Beside representatives of the the Polytechnic Institute of Porto and partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the workshop was, like in Gent, attended by 1 student representative of the each public universities in BiH. The students were informed about the key asspects of internationalization and especially about student mobility at the Politechnic Institute of Porto.

The first day of workshop, the representatives of the Politechnic Institute of Porto presented their experiences concerning internationalization, student and staff mobility, international research and policy as well as quality assurance within internationalisation in Portugal. They pointed out that although their old strategy of internationalisation had been very well, they developed a new strategy few years ago so that they have cooperated with other countries, other continents, they have had better connection with research, development and innovation, they have participated and have had a leading role in special projects related to internationalisation and mobility. Currently, Politechnic Institute of Porto has 3 projects with institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The second day started with a study visit to the Porto Design Factory, an institution which trains students to find innovative solutions for tomorrow’s problems. After that the key aspects of internationalization were discussed such as internationalization at home, e-learning, project management, international research projects and funding opportunities. At the end of the second day a former student gave a short overview of exchange experience in Europe and Brasil.

The third day was devoted to international experiences of two faculties. It was pointed out that there is not one way and view of internationalisation. Every institution should find its own way defining clear objectives. At the end of workshop, academic recognition and admission of international students were presented.

The next meeting will be held in Mostar from 13 to 16 June 2017.
