The Fifth Meeting of the Joint ERI SEE – RCC Working Group on Recognition of Academic Qualifications was held in Podgorica on 27 March 2019. Representatives of the ministries, ENIC/NARIC centres and quality assurance agencies from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo (the name defined with the UN Resolution 1244 from 1999) participated at the meeting.

Podgorica Fifth Meeting of the Workin Group on Academic RecognitionPodgorica Fifth Meeting of the Workin Group on Academic Recognition 2The first part of the meeting was dedicated to joint exercise on recognition of academic qualifications in the Western Balkan as well as joint information system. The new joint information system will be developed and all countires, that is, ENIC/NARIC centres or other recognition bodies will have opportunity to see how other countries evaluate foreign qualifications. This approach will help all countries to understand how other countries deal with different foreign higher education qualification and to exchange best practices.

The second part was dedicated to the Draft Declaration on Recognition of Academic Qualifications. The Draft was discussed and after the final Draft will be endorsed by the Ministers responsible for higher education at the next meeting of the Western Balkans Platform on Education and Training organised by DG EAC and presented for signature to the Prime Ministers at the upcoming Leader’s Summit in Poznan in July 2019. It is expected that the final Draft will be adopted at the next sixth meeting of the working group.
